The invasion of Ukraine is a deeply disturbing development. The UK Trauma Council, founded by the Anna Freud Centre, includes general information about the impact of trauma.

They have also had specific requests for advice on how to best respond to our children’s natural curiosity and growing anxiety around the conflict in Ukraine. In response they have developed some useful suggestions with BBC Bitesize for parents and carers.

SNOW WHITE & THE BIG BAD WOLF

Most parents and children know the Polka Theatre in Wimbledon. But do you know of the vibrant children’s theatre being produced at the nearby Colour House Theatre, in Merton Abbey Mills? Virtually every weekend throughout the year there is a children’s play performed, twice a day, and in the first week of the Easter Holidays. This time it is Snow White & The Big Bad Wolf in which the writer and director Gordon House introduces Snow White to a character - The Big Bad Wolf - who has sauntered in from a completely different story and the great Alan Bennett features as the recorded voice of The Mirror!

Colour House Theatre is a wonderfully intimate venue for a child to enjoy what might be their first experience of live theatre. Tickets can be acquired at the Box Office on the day, but with only 70 seats for each performance it is wise to book beforehand on Colour House’s website - colourhousetheatre.co.uk

Tickets are £12 for adults and £10 for children, and these family shows (there are jokes for all ages!) are performed at 11.30am and 3.00 pm from Monday 4th to Sunday 10th April, with an extra 7.00pm show on the Sunday evening.
