Anime Club is a safe and welcoming environment where the love of anime and manga is discussed on a weekly basis. As a club, we study different aspects of anime and manga as well as Japanese culture. We watch various videos, meet with experts on topics such as cosplay and origami, and sample some treats from Japan.
The Asian Club’s philosophy is to increase Asian cultural awareness and harmony in the CHS community. The club has approximately 50 members of all backgrounds. The club organizes three (3) major events during the school year. The GARBA is the traditional Indian Dance which is held in October, and, a Bollywood Movie Night is held in January. In April, a Talent Show is held showcasing Arabic belly dancing, Chinese dragon dance, and Philippine bamboo dancing. Activities such as henna designs painted on the palms of the hands, and exotic food displays take place during some of the above described events.
The main purpose of the Athletic Training Club is to introduce the field of sports medicine, in particular, the profession of Athletic Training to all interested students of CHS.
This club is dedicated to the craft of singing. Participants learn, rehearse and perform music from a wide variety of genres. Students are given feedback to help them build vocal technique. Groups also prepare for performances both in person and virtually.
The CSU is a place where student’s voices can be heard. In the past, the CSU has secured an additional 3.4 million dollars to the school budget.
An organization dedicated to providing CHS students with a tight-knit community of friends and mentors to promote and advocate computer science in general, computer programming in particular, and working with technology. No prior knowledge of coding is required, however commitment is necessary!

Dance Ensemble is an audition based dance group at CHS. All styles of dance are welcome! Dancers who join Dance Ensemble are usually intermediate to advanced level dancers. In this group students are given the opportunity to choreograph dances and perform in dances that have been created by their peers. Students gain skills in rehearsing, creating, and performing. They also work together to improve their technical dance skills. Rehearsals for Dance Ensemble take place weekly. Students involved in Dance Ensemble are required to perform in the annual CHS Dance Showcase, which takes place in June. Auditions are now live!
The National Honor Society for Dance Arts™ (NHSDA) is a program of the National Dance Education Organization, created to recognize outstanding artistic merit, leadership, and academic achievement in students studying dance in public and private schools in K-12 education, dance studios, cultural/community centers, performing arts organizations, and post-secondary education. Students can apply to join the Clifton chapter of NHSDA when they are enrolled in the Dance 3 course at CHS. Students in this group meet monthly to discuss the importance of dance, fundraising opportunities, and ways dance can be used to give back to the CHS community. Induction into the NHSDA is earned through the accumulation of at 30 points awarded for dance activities such as dance classes, rehearsals, performances, research, workshops, or community service activities, alongside a minimum GPA of at 3.0 in their current dance course.
In DECA students compete in district, state, and national marketing/advertising/entrepreneurship competitions. Students have monthly meetings to prepare for the competitions. Students also have the opportunity to participate in Pin design, and logo designing competitions.
Drama Club is a place for anyone interested in acting and the theatre. No experience necessary- only an open mind and a supportive attitude. In Drama Club we often do theatre and improv games, write and perform scenes, study and perform scenes and monologues, host fundraising events, and overall have a fun time entertaining each other at every meeting! Come join the fun! We usually meet every other Thursday for about an hour.
A club where students can sign up to play certain games competitively against other high schools across the nation, and also participate in monthly tournaments against members of the Clifton High School community.
The ERASE Club has an overarching goal of living up to what our acronym stands for: Ending Racism and Sexism Everywhere. Our job is to do our part and be positive agents of change. To start this process, we discuss social issues that affect race and gender not only in the United States, but also around the Globe today. Additionally, we brainstorm peaceful solutions to combatting the racism and sexism that is prominent in society today.
The Fashion Club is not only a place to discuss and appreciate different types of fashion, but also a place where you can learn how to sew and share your own creations with the club members. Students will take part in creating fashion looks, and trends. Our club aims to create an inviting atmosphere to encourage self-expression and uniqueness in members, as well as provide them with basic fabric arts and craft skills.
Students with scientific interest in the criminal justice field find the forensic club fascinating. The purpose of the Forensic Science Club is to engage students with the intriguing and broad reaching area of forensic science. Students interested in a career in forensics, criminology, or who just want to expand their knowledge of the subject area, learn through hands-on activities problem-solving mock crimes.
Future Business Leaders of America compete in regional, state and national business based competitions. A great club to meet new students that might pursue a career in the world of business. The club has prepares for the competitions as well as competes in a virtual stock market game.
The Freshman Student Council is made up of group of students elected to their positions by their peers. Together they come up with ideas for fundraising, promote student involvement, and express their ideas on community and school activities. We meet once a month and typically produce the Clifton High School Talent Show.
The purpose of our club is for students who want to pursue teaching to come together and learn more about the process, discuss what it means to them to be a teacher, begin networking, learn more about what is involved in the career, and to start to give back to the district and community through fundraisers and activities like tutoring.
Games Club provides students with unique interests in strategic, table top & video games a chance to socialize with other students with the same interests.
The GSA (Gender & Sexuality Alliance) is a student-led organization centered around issues of gender and sexuality. The group's mission is multi-faceted, focusing on peer support, education, and advocacy. The GSA is a judgement-free
safe space, where members build a tight-knit community, as they explore aspects of the LGBTQ+ experience within our school, our community, the state, the nation, and the world at large.
The Girls Learn International Club focuses on Human Rights Awareness and Advocacy, especially equal access to education in underprivileged countries. We raise awareness and raise money for international and community social justice.
Girls Who Code is an international platform that encourages girls who are interested in Computer Science. It is in fact spread across 4 different countries, and seeks to provide aspiring girls with the right opportunities. Enrollment does nor require any prior coding experience . The club is a great opportunity to make new friends, develop coding skills, and most importantly have a year loaded with fun and unforgettable memories!
Heroes and Cool Kids is a student mentoring program where small teams of high school "heroes" are trained to deliver lessons to the 6th-grade "cool kids" throughout the school year. These lessons focus on important topics such as wellness, responsibility, bullying, cyber safety, and substance abuse. Students develop meaningful relationships with the middle school students as they share personal stories and discuss the importance of making good decisions.
History Club The CHS History Club is committed in engaging students in promoting history. CHSHC members are dedicated to collecting, preserving and interpreting the political, social, cultural and economic history at various levels, i.e., local, state and national. Through exhibitions, publications and programming, we examine who ad what we are, where we came from and how we got to where we are today. We strive and inspire to further promote the students of Clifton High School and community programs. Remember “History is all around you. You just have to open up your eyes”.
Students participating in the Interact Club volunteer for a variety of community services sponsored by the Rotary Club of Clifton. Some of the many activities are food drives, clothing drives, and serving lunch to the homeless and disabled during Thanksgiving. Members also raise Clifton community spirit by participating at the Spring and Fall festivals. Through their hard work and dedication, RYLA selection and involvement, graduating students can be chosen to receive the Rotary Scholarship.
ITS is an International Honor Society for theatre students. Being inducted to this world renowned honor society looks great on a college application as well as having other benefits. Students who are interested in being a Thespian should take Drama as an elective for at least one year, join and be an active member of Drama Club, audition for the Fall Play and Spring Musical, join Stage Crew, and volunteer in some capacity in theatre productions outside of CHS. The Italian club is a fun cultural club with a diverse group of members who are interested in Italian culture. In our monthly club meetings (usually the last Tuesday of the month), we learn the Italian language through fun and simple interactive activities and we explore new aspects of the rich Italian culture through news clips, television clips, short films, movies, and videos. We also love to celebrate with holiday food parties and gatherings. In the long term, we prepare for our annual Italian Skit Competition at Montclair State University and look into potential field trips that further acclimate us to the Italian culture.
The Junior class works in collaboration with the student government to raise money through various fundraisers, plan activities (including the Junior Prom), and help increase school spirit.

The Mustang Majorettes are one of the highlights of "The Showband of the Northeast!" Hosting clinics throughout the spring season, the majorettes are taught the basics of marching and twirling in preparation for auditions for the squad. Once auditions are held late in the spring season, the squad is set to practice and rehearse - both with the marching band and on their own - to prepare for their weekly half-time performances, parades, festivals, and travel.
Makerspace focuses on learning how to make things. The club spends a lot of time working on designing and printing with our 3d printer but we change what we learn to make according to the interests of each years group. For example, this years group is interested in learning to use the 3d printers but also to paint, sculpt and make masks.
In this club, you will participate in various “meets” which consist of independent math tests. Students compete for the highest score, while schools compete for the highest team score: the total of the top 5 scores in each school. You will be competing with other students from schools all over New Jersey. Problems draw from a wide range of high school topics. These contests are great practice for the SAT, ACT, NJSLA, etc.
The CHS Mock Trial Club is an academic competition team. The objective of the club is to demystify the Judicial System of the US. Students will be introduced to basic concepts of the US Justice System. The CHS Mock Trial Team competes in 3 tournaments a year Empire Mock Trial Championships, NJSBF annual case and the Passaic County Law Day competition. The club meets weekly on Thursday afternoon. As the tournaments get closer the team meets more frequently based on individual schedules. The CHS Mock Trial program sharpens persuasive presentation and extemporaneous speaking skills through analyzing the cases that coincide with each tournament.

- MCJROTC cadets conduct virtual drill practices 3 times a week.
- During meetings cadets will perform basic Marine Corps drill movements in accordance with the Marine Corps drill manual.
From the High School Model United Nations Organization: “Model United Nations (MUN) is a student simulation of the proceedings of the United Nations. Students, referred to as Delegates, are assigned a country to represent in one of the UN’s numerous committees with pre-set topics to debate. Students will research the background of their country, their country’s position on the topics at hand, and prepare notes on possible solutions to the problems faced. Students will participate in digital Model UN conferences, which range in size based on delegation participation to debate their assigned topics with students representing the other UN member states. Much like the real UN, the goal is to identify solutions, by negotiation and consensus, on which many countries can agree.”
The Montclair Society of Engineers – Student Chapter (formerly Super Science Sidekicks Club) is a cross-age peer tutoring club where CHS students have the opportunity to travel to the local Clifton elementary schools and teach Science on Wednesday afternoons once a month for 45 minutes. The purpose of this club is for the members to interact with the 3rd graders with a hands-on science lesson. The club is open to any student – 9th through 12th grades and qualifies for community services hours.
Mural club provides young artists with the opportunity to collaborate on advanced level painting of murals around the school. Members will hone their painting as well as their team-building skills.
The Muslim Students’ Association (MSA) shall promote the interests of and understanding between Muslims and non-Muslims in the community of Clifton High School (CHS) and the city of Clifton; thereby enhancing the academic, personal, social, and cultural well-being of CHS and the city of Clifton. MSA shall facilitate tolerance and understanding by maintaining a positive relationship between both communities. MSA will promote further discussion in CHS and the community at large through services, programming, and special events; MSA shall also enhance the education of students and prepare them to live and work in an increasingly globalized world.
MSA shall serve as a united and welcoming community on the CHS campus. It shall also help students become better Muslims and allow all students to have a better understanding of Islam in hopes of combating ignorance.
Students apply in September to join the Ambassadors and must meet specific criteria based on previous grades, attendance and discipline. Ambassadors are responsible for communicating the plans and goals of the Mustang Academy to their respective team, promote all Mustang Academy events and the pillars, and participate in all Mustang Academy activities including fundraisers. Throughout the year Ambassadors will be the voice of 9th grade students and will work to make Mustang Academy be successful for both staff and students.
The NHS recognizes students' commitment to Scholarship, Character, Service and Leadership. Students who meet the requirements in these four areas by the middle of their junior year are invited to join.

We are a nationally recognized honor society for science. Together we explore scienceor engineering topics through presentations and debates. Our members offer peeer tutoring for other CHS students who are struggling with their science courses. Freshman and sophomores are welcome as provisional members while junior and seniors who meet all grade and course requirements can be full members with seniors being officially inducted in the spring.
Develop and enrich student performance capabilities, musical perceptivity, artistic sensitivity and overall musicianship. Students must audition for section placement and section leader positions. The Orchestra meets once a month on the second Thursday of the month from 2:45-3:30. Fundraisers will include but are not limited to Chipotle fundraiser, Snap Raise, etc. Proceeds from fundraisers will go towards scholarships, year-end awards , and pins.
Students submit writings such as poetry and short stories, work can be published in the Phoenix Art/ Literary Magazine, which comes out in June. This is not a club with meeting dates.

The goals of the Pre-med club are to expose students to different opportunities within the medical field, find ways to support the medical community, host various guest speakers and explore different colleges and their requirements for entering the medical field.
This club explores the discipline of Psychology through the use of case studies, group dialogues, and personal experiences. We practice mindfulness, deep breathing, hold debates, engage in meaningful conversations about different mental illnesses and treatment options, seek out people in the field to have exchanges with, and support each other as we navigate the stressors of both school and our lives. Our club's core philosophy "change your thoughts, change your world" is a message we are working to spread throughout CHS.
“The Mechanical Mustangs” is a competition team requiring dedication and a spirit of cooperation. In prior years, the Mechanical Mustangs have won various awards including regional finalists and winners. The team hosts the Middle School Robotics Tournament, mentor elementary and middle school teams, and hold fundraisers for the competition season. The team meets 2x a week to train new members and build new projects at The Warehouse. From mid-year forward, the team meets 4x a week, and weekends to build the new season robot. This involves designing, fabricating and programming the robot. The team is divided into groups: mechanical, electrical, scouting (strategy), programming, vision targeting (pit design), business plan, and safety. In the spring, the team competes at local high schools, or universities with the intention of qualifying for the World Championship. Successful robotics teams have been awarded scholarships to many colleges and universities. The time commitment as a member of the club/team parallels the traditional commitment to a sports team. If members wish to participate in the travelling robotic team, it is recommended that they do not engage in a winter or spring sport due to time constraints.
The goal of the senior class shall be: to develop individual student responsibility with regard to their senior activities and expenses. Students will plan for and organize fundraisers to help offset the cost of senior activities. Senior activities include, homecoming, senior prom, class day, and graduation, among others. Meetings are held once a month as a small group, and again, as a full SCA organization.
5 Sophomore Officers help plan school events and promote school spirit. The Sophomore class runs the Student vs. Faculty Basketball Game and PowderPuff Flag Football Game. Students also plan and run fundraisers to help offset senior year costs.
The Students will have the knowledge of the Spanish Culture. Also,
the Students will have the opportunity to learn facts about Spanish Speaking countries. I will highlighted Latino diversity throughout our school.
The students will have the opportunity to learn how to dance Spanish music, such as Bachata and Merengue. We will share different food dishes by doing parties on Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentines Day, and for other celebrations (I will look for videos since now we are meeting by google meet). The students do not need to know Spanish to be part of the Spanish Club and if they need help with their Spanish´s homework or study for a test/quiz, we can help each other. The students will have the change to practice the target language too. We usually do fundraiser for field trip and pizza´s party at the end of the school year and secret Santa during Christmas and Valentine´s Day. We meet twice or once at month by Google Meet (for now) on Thursday, at 2:40 Please join us and you will learn and have fun at the same time. Gracias!

The Strings Club meets once a month on Tuesdays from 2:45-3:30. The show must go on. It can't go anywhere without the stage crew. Come learn what happens between the scenes.
The STEM Club (formerly Botany Club) is composed of students who enjoy being outdoors, gardening, and caring for the environment. Their responsibility in the fall and spring is to take care of the wildflower gardens on the high school campus and in the winter months they work on indoor projects and fundraise for the end-of-year trip. Past field trips have been to the Museum of Natural History and the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.
The Strings Ensemble consists of dedicated advanced Strings students who eagerly seek the knowledge, skill and artistic sensitivity in performing music. The repertoire chosen is sophisticated and challenging. The Strings Ensemble performs at various functions including: Clifton High School concerts, Clifton Arts Center events, CHS Scholarship Night and in the community.
The purpose of the student council association (SCA) shall be to: develop individual student responsibility; promote the general welfare of the school; promote good relationships among students, faculty, administration, and community; develop good citizenship, attitudes, and practices; provide an opportunity for student expressions; to provide strong, valid communication between all school stakeholders; and to assist in managing general student life activities.
The purpose of this club is for students to collaborate with each other in an effort to express themselves through different facets of writing and reading. Students will explore and engage in reading and writing that they typically do not get to work on in their regular English classes. This club is for students who genuinely enjoy the written word. The club meets biweekly for 30 min-1 hour. Activities include but are not limited to:
-timed writing (picture prompts)
-slam poetry
-creation of zines (hand made mini book that can be about anything)
-completing mad libs
-collaborative snowball writing
-stream of consciousness writing (for fun or to begin the brainstorming process)
-snapshot writing (short descriptive pieces for the holidays. For example: Scary night for Halloween)
-flash fiction writing of an abandoned place in history (based on non fiction reading pieces)
-topic jar (students choose a topic from the jar and create a scenario)

The purpose of Tri-M is to advance music education by encouraging the study and making music for each other and the community. Tri-m promotes civic responsibility, academic excellence, and leadership skills. Tri-M meets on the first Wednesday of the month from 2:45 - 3:30. This year the Tri-M members will be helping younger students with their playing skills by providing virtual lessons. In the past, Tri-M members have been asked to perform at the Clifton Arts Center for gallery openings, and holiday parties. This year four members had the honor of performing at the Chief of Police Induction Ceremony.
The Writing Center is an available tutoring opportunity, offered both by peers and faculty, to assist our struggling writers. Students are offered the opportunity to sign up for a one-on-one session to work on a range of skills, provide assistance with assignments, and more easily perfect their writing craft.
Design and produce a yearbook for the senior class including photos, surveys, and layouts
The Yoga & Mindfulness Club is meant to help students not only manage stress, but also to help students become more mindful in everyday life. Students learn mindfulness and breathing techniques as well as learn how to do yoga! At each meeting, members will learn new yoga poses and build on ones we've already learned. Yoga is for everyone! You don't have to be flexible or have any experience. Anyone can join the club as long as they arrive ready to learn and give it a try! We usually meet every other Friday for one hour with the goal of letting go of any stress from the week.
