A multitude of career possibilities is reachable via the CHS academies with both practical and experiential components making up their framework. Academic advisors will mentor and guide the academy students through their desired concentrations and prepare them for their future plans after graduation. It is important to understand that students who plan do go to Clifton High do not need to enter into any academy. Academies are for students who desire a more specific path.
Take your time to explore the academies along with their various concentrations. The application process can be found on the bottom of each academy page and also on the APPLY TO A CHS ACADEMY page.
The application process consists of two elements:
An application Google Form
A recommendation Google Form
The application and recommendation forms can also be found on the CHS website.
STEM ACADEMY integrates curriculum educating students in four specific disciplines -- science, technology, engineering, and mathematics -- in an interdisciplinary and applied approach.
CAREER ACADEMY integrates curriculum preparing students for post-secondary careers -- law and public safety, marketing, human services, and early childhood, computer science, and marketing.
VISUAL & PERFORMING ARTS ACADEMY is a practical education based on experiential learning in the following concentrations -- band, choir/vocal, dance, drama, orchestra, studio art and tv/video production.
General Criteria for Acceptance:
A grade point average of 80% or better is required, but does not guarantee acceptance into your chosen program; additional criteria may include attendance and discipline records. Our academies are demanding and will require the completion of the required sequence of courses through Grade 12. If accepted, the student must be willing and able to meet these requirements. Academy acceptance is based upon the review of the student’s application and recommendation. Many academies can be applied to again as freshman.
Appeals: Department Supervisor and High School Principal.
