House Allocations
Children are allocated to one of three Sports Houses:
Barbarians (green)
Crusaders (red)
Trojans (blue)
House allocations are carefully determined by the needs and age groups of each House. Should your child have a strong family affiliation with a House, please notify admissions@cliftonprep.org.za on application or admission.
Clubs
Clubs take place during the 2nd and the 3rd Terms. Club offerings vary from term to term and include golf, fishing, mountain biking, trail running, chess and art. For more information, please contact Mr Halalisani Xulu via email, sp.sport@cliftonprep.org.za.
Sport Exemptions
We would like to remind you of our practice when requesting that your child be exempt from a sporting commitment. A request email should be sent to the headmaster and the SP of sport at least two weeks in advance. (This does not include sickness or injuries.)
We understand and appreciate that there are times when a child is definitely ill or unable to attend sport and I will support you in this, however, when it is obvious that the excuses are purely an attempt to get the child out of their responsibility to the school, it becomes a concern for our school as a whole.
The role that the child plays in the wider school community is of paramount importance to us.
We want every child to feel as if they belong and that their contribution is valuable. They must realise that demonstrating commitment and loyalty to one’s team is a value which should never be compromised. When we start allowing children to pick and choose what they would like to be involved in, we run the risk of making them believe that ‘it’s all about
them’. Clifton children are known for being outward focused, always looking for ways in which they can enrich the lives of others by sharing their God-given talents for the betterment of all.
Horse Riding
Please note that Horse riding at Clifton is a school sport, which means that where individual sports are selected, riding can be selected as an option. This rule will not be applied for any team sports such as soccer, hockey, rugby, basketball and cricket. Team sports will always take precedence over riding shows etc.
