Google Hangouts Meet is an application that can be used for multiway audio and video communication. While perhaps not quite as robust as zoom with some of the tools that are available - it will most likely do exactly what many need to do. In addition to that it records directly to your google drive (in which we have unlimited space) and it has real time closed captions on the live video (not the recorded video though).
If you simply need an option to communicate with your students or hold virtual class, this tool will allow you to communicate via audio and video as well as share your screen with your students.

We also have another tool built right into our email that some of you may not know about. It’s called HANGOUTS, and allows us to have immediate conversation with one another by way of chat or even one on one video calls. This could be used for one on one meetings or even touching base with our colleagues or asking a quick question that doesn’t really need an email. You can think of this as taking the place of walking down the hall and asking a question.
