The Canvas calendar is a tool teachers can use to schedule events or meetings with their students. Additionally, when assignments are created with a due date they show up on the calendar for students to see in a big overview. The calendar is a great tool for both students and teachers to use to keep themselves on track with events and due dates. Watch this video to find out more.
Teachers can assign work to students using Canvas assignments. Teachers can provide students with directions and content in the rich content editor and then determine how they want students to submit their work with the "submission type". While multiple submission types can be selected, it is best practice to only select one or two. This will make is less complicated for students to determine how you want their work submitted. Using the submission type "external tool" allows teachers to pull in assignments from other platforms like Google Drive or Nearpod directly into Canvas for seamless student access and grading. Check-out several external tool options below. Teachers have the flexibility of limiting the number of attempts and assigning to everyone, small groups or individuals. Check-out this short video to see how to use Canvas assignments.
It is best practice to set-up a module organization for your course. In Cleveland ISD for the year of 2022-2022 our Module organization is based on a weekly or daily format to help support students that may be learning from home. Using modules helps to organize the content and create a visual workflow for how content should be consumed.
