Please remember that not all on and off campus service hours can be used toward your Beta Club service requirement. Below are some questions that can help guide you in finding appropriate service opportunities (the answer to all of the questions should be YES). Also, remember that you MUST email for prior approval for any off campus service activity that you would like to use toward your Beta Club requirement.
Does it help meet a community need?
Does it provide help or assistance to people outside of your regular "bubble" (i.e. outside of your regular group of family, friends/acquaintances, church family, sports team/extra-curricular activity group, etc...)? In other words, will it positively impact the greater community?
Will your service activity benefit a non-profit organization (that means an organization that does not make money as a profit)?
Will you be able to get a letter of documentation written on the organization's letterhead?
Will you be volunteering without receiving pay or other benefits?
Will the service hours be completed during a time when you are not scheduled to be in a class on campus (ex: before/after school, during PRIDE, weekends, etc...)?
Is it something that is not required for a class or team? For example, if you are in sports medicine and the teacher requires you to work a certain number of athletic games, or if you're in theatre and you are required to go to rehearsal after school, you cannot use that time toward your Beta Club requirement.

Current Beta Club members,
As a reminder, once you have officially been inducted, you can use hours completed over the summer toward your service hour requirement for the upcoming school year. To do so, you must email me for pre-approval to be sure that the service activity is acceptable, and the hours must be completed after the last day of school (after May 28, 2025). Also, remember to request a letter (written on organization letterhead) to turn in documenting the dates/hours of service for pre-approved volunteer activities. See the information below about some upcoming service opportunities...
