How YOU can HELP your child to have SUCCESS in 8th grade?

Check his/her grades on powerschool regularly. If grades are slipping, it is likely he/she is not learning the content or asking questions when they need help.
Sign up for REMIND messaging. Text # 81010 with your class code (@cms1lawson, @cms2lawson, @cms3lawson, @cms4lawson). By getting weekly messages, you will be informed of due dates and important announcements.
Attend the parent/teacher conference day in October and March to touch base with your child's academic team teachers. This is a great opportunity to discuss issues and figure out solutions that will help your child with the courses they are struggling in. Don't wait too long to
Look over & help with your child's homework and projects (prior to the due dates). Middle school students are trying to figure out how to juggle their coursework, sports, and social activities. For this reason, sometimes they neglect the details or due dates for assignments. This can have a negative impact on their learning and/or grades. When the child knows his/her parent will be checking the accuracy, completion, and quality of his/her work, your child is more likely to do it correctly the first time and get it submitted on time.

If your child is still struggling in 8th grade after you have done some of these tasks, please call the child's teacher and/or school counselor to determine other ways to help him/her be successful this school year.
