freshman Orientation

CHS Orientation for Freshmen will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. You may choose to attend the 10 am session or the 6 pm session. Students plus one parent are encouraged to attend to meet teaches, find where classes are located in the building, and receive important beginning of the year information.

Students will receive a Chromebook during homeroom on the first day of school. Parents may use the online link on our homepage to pay the $20 Technology User Fee, or students may bring the fee on the first day of school.

What if I do not know which bus to ride?

Please call the school at 704-476-8331 and request to speak with Mrs. Mitchell. Also, if you plan to ride a bus this year, please fill out the bus form linked on the front of the website!

I can't remember how to log into my Google account, or I am new to Crest and need to log into my Google account. How do I get in?

Your email address is your first initial, last name, and the last 4 of your student number (PowerSchool number or UID). For example - - - Mary Walker 1247286 - - - mwalker7286.

The password for your Google account is your student number. If your student number is only 7 digits, you will have to add a 0 at the beginning of the number. For example - - - 1247286 - - - must be entered 01247286.

I am new to Crest and have never had a PowerSchool account. How do I get logged in?

You will need to claim your account. Please see the video below.

What about my cellphone?

Cellphones are to be silenced and put away when you enter the school building. They are not allowed in classrooms and hallways. Headphones/earbuds may not be connected to a device in your pocket. Students may use these devices during lunch ONLY! Please see the homepage of our site for consequences when violating this school policy.

When may I go to my locker?

Sorry! We will not be issuing lockers this year. However, if you have a medical condition or extenuating circumstances and need a locker, please see Mrs. Hall (school nurse), Mrs. Sanders (Freshman Academy Director), or Ms. Roberts (counselor).

When do I go to lunch?

Although everything about school will look very different when students return, our goal remains the same as always!

School Nutrition’s goal is to provide nutritious meals to fuel learning!

Popular student meal choices will be available daily for breakfast and lunch.

Breakfast service will be located near the two student entrances to the building each morning. Students will pick up and take to class to eat.

Lunch will be served in the cafeteria and consumed in the classroom. Two lunch meal choices are available each day. Students will choose from a hot or cold option.

A la carte sales will not be available at the start of school. We will begin to offer a la carte items after the first two weeks of school.

Parents will not be allowed to drop off lunch for students.

Do we have a dress code?

Yes. Please make sure that you look over the dress code expectations linked on the front of the school website. No hats or head coverings (including bandanas) are allowed. Shoulders of tops should be at least 3 fingertips in width. No holes in jeans above the fingertips. Stomachs must be completely covered. Undergarments may not be visible. Pajamas may not be worn to school. All students must wear a mask in the building and in the parking lot when within 6 feet of other students or staff.

What if I get lost on the first day of school?

We have plenty of adults on duty during class change to help students find their next class.

When will I receive my schedule?

Schedules will be released to students on PowerSchool at 8 am on Thursday, August 5, 2021. Paper copies will be available at orientation. However, students are encouraged to use a digital version of the schedule while attending orientation. This will help to prevent the need for people to gather at tables to receive a paper copy.

When can I pick up my Chromebook?

Chromebooks will be distributed in homeroom on the first day of school.

How much is the Technology User Fee?

$20 This fee helps to provide the learning management system, devices, and other digital resources that are necessary for the learning process.

Is there a map of the school that I can look at?

Yes! You may look at or print this map to find where your classes are. CHS Map

What if I can't remember my password for PowerSchool?

If you set up security questions when you created your account, you should be able to use the Password Reset option on the login page at my.ncedcloud.org.

If you have problems using the Password Reset option, any of your teachers will be able to reset your password once you get to school. If you are a remote learner, you will need to email one of your teachers and request a password change. Include in the email what you would like for your password to be. If must have a capital letter, lower case letter, and a number. It can not contain any part of your first name, last name, or student identification number.
