ACE Mentoring

A Champion for Every Child

What is ACE?

ACE stands for a Champion for Every Child and is a TKAT trust wide initiative which is designed to bring down barriers to learning.

Cleeve Park School has employed a number of ACE Mentors who are champions for disadvantaged students and their families and who check in with them on a weekly basis.  The aim is to be a voice for students and families at school and for the child to have an adult who will never give up on them.

It is believed to be one of the most comprehensive trust-wide mentoring schemes. It is also more welfare-focused than the National Tutoring Programme and more sustainable than initiatives funded through one-off recovery premium funding.

As part of the mentoring programme at Cleeve Park School, ACE Mentors monitor academic progress of the student, have well being conversations, access resources for students and work closely with a number of different agencies to help improve outcomes for their mentees.

The ACE Room is set up to run group sessions but also has a separate space for students to be able to speak in confidence.  It's also used as a safe space during social time for students who prefer a quiet space or who are looking for support.

The ACE Team at Cleeve Park School  also runs a number of clubs including a free Breakfast Club, Homework Clubs, Boxing Clubs and a Games Afternoon.  We have purchased a number of Chromebooks for students to use in the ACE Room and around the school.

The goal is to support students and their families through their secondary school experience and create opportunities for them to achieve their goals.  This includes working closely with our careers advisor in shaping a sustainable pathway into further education and employment.
