Elemental Excelerator

Elemental Excelerator is a growth accelerator program headquartered in Hawaii with offices in California. Each year, we select 15-20 companies that best fit our mission and fund each company up to $1 million.

A Growth Accelerator Designed for Community Change

Our mission is twofold:

1) Help our companies succeed — That means building the most supportive, expert-driven ecosystem around each one to help find customers, investors, and other partners. We bring commercial opportunities to entrepreneurs who are building world-changing solutions in energy, mobility, water, agriculture, and beyond. To date, we have awarded $30 million to 82 portfolio companies. They have gone on to raise more than $350 million in follow-on funding and scale more than 56 demonstration projects to new markets.

2) Help transform this place, Hawaii — While it makes sense to fund research at a national level, innovation and deployment is all local. We take a place-based approach to finding and funding innovative solutions that address challenges faced by local businesses and policymakers, and help to transform our community in a way that is clean, resilient, and equitable. Our portfolio companies have created 55 engineering, agriculture, and business jobs in Hawaii and more than 20 college students and recent graduates have been supported through our internships and fellowships.

Fresno State's Water, Energy, and Technology (WET) Center

Fresno State's WET Center helps bring water, energy, and agricultural technologies to market in California. The WET Center does this through incubator space, testing and piloting opportunities, acceleration programs, and connections to funding.

The WET Center is home to BlueTechValley (BTV), the regional cluster of the Central Valley innovation ecosystem as funded by the California Energy Commission (CEC). BlueTechValley extends technology commercialization services through its seven hubs hosted by California State Universities (CSUs) Bakersfield, Monterey, Humboldt, Chico, and Sacramento, as well as the Sierra Business Council Small Business Development Center (SBDC). Additional BlueTechValley partners include the Kern County Economic Development Corporation (EDC), UC Davis, UC Berkeley, Grant Farm, Schatz Energy Research Center (SERC), Cleantech Open, and Fresno State's Office of Community and Economic Development (OCED).

The WET Center is also home to the Valley Ventures accelerator. Funded by the Economic Development Administration (EDA), this accelerator is a cohort program for water, energy, and agricultural ventures with market-ready product or service.
