Director's Notes

I am extremely proud of this production.  The quality of the cast, technical crew, and costume crew is a result of all the hard work and dedication of each student.  A truly successful production involves more than what is presented on stage.  It should not only be an artistic learning experience, but a personal one as well.  I'm especially proud of the cooperation, mutual respect, the level of commitment, and the teamwork that has been demonstrated by everyone involved with this production.

Each spring the theatre team spends a lot of time deciding what shows to present the following year.  The next season's announcement has become a tradition that the students look forward to each year.  When we work on picking productions for our students we try to find not only productions that they want, but most importantly, need.  Theatre teaches us so many things as we work together on a common goal.  The SpongeBob Musical is an example of a show that we needed to do.  The lessons taught in this story about coming together in a place where we all belong are essential life skills.  As you sit back and watch this show, take note of how the story aligns with what we value most to be successful and most importantly, human.

I would like to also personally thank Carla Miller for her 19 years of service to the Wydown community and the Wydown Theatre Company.  I've had the honor of working alongside her for the past 19 years.  As she prepares to retire at the end of this year, I wish her all the best on her next adventure.  She has helped to build and create this program with me and I am forever grateful.  Be sure to check out the "Mrs. Miller Tribute" page in this program to see messages from current and former Wydown Theatre Company students.

Please be sure to take a moment and silence your phones and other electronic devices. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!
