Courses should be aligned with state and national standards. Instruction utilizes best practice pedagogy. Lessons prepare students to be excellent entry level employees and capable of success in industry aligned credentials.
Pathway
Students are prepared for assessments prior to. Each student is expected to make a passing grade. Those students who require additional support are provided with that support as indicated by their individual educational program. Teachers provide after school assistance for those students who seek it. Students are given multiple formative assessments prior to giving a summative assessment. There is time to provide support to those students who are struggling prior to the summative assessment. Students who need extra support are referred to the Career Technical Instructor (CTI).
Literacy
Students are encouraged to utilize resource materials inside the classroom to supplement learning and explore careers. The Georgia Criminal and Traffic Law Manual is used in a variety of classroom exercises.
The Newsela platform is a district initiative that encourages students to read articles about real-world issues and events that are tailored to their lexile scores. The articles are integrated into the weekly lesson plan and allows students to read with understanding, be more informed about worldly issues and events, and promote critical thinking through understanding.
