Volunteering is NOT the same as Community Service.
Community Service MUST address a civic/social issue or be in a professional area of interest.

Plan your service
Complete the Community Service/Paid Work Plan Form below (You will get a service log after approval)
Complete your service AND your self-evaluation of service
Make a copy of your service log, then turn in the copy of the completed service log and service evaluation using the link below
Maintain a folder/binder of all service

Florida Bright Futures Scholarships are based on specific academic requirements and community service and/or paid work hours earned in grades 9-12. The hours are as follows:
Florida Academic Scholars Award – 100 hours community service hours OR 100 paid work hours
Florida Medallion Scholars Award – 75 hours community service hours OR 100 paid work hours
Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholars Award – 30 hours community service hours OR 100 paid work hours
Florida Gold Seal CAPE Scholars Award – 30 hours community service hours OR 100 paid work hours
Students must submit their Plan and have the Plan approved prior to beginning community service or paid work hours.
The Community Service/Paid Work Log will be given to the student once the Plan has been approved. If at any time the community service/paid work changes, a new Plan MUST be submitted for review. The completed Community Service/Paid Work Log must match the Plan.
Current seniors who would like to be considered for any of the Florida Bright Futures award levels at the seventh semester eligibility review should submit the Community Service/Paid Work Log no later than the end of the 1st semester. Seniors who complete their community service work hours during the eighth semester must submit the Community Service/Paid Work Log prior to graduation to be considered for the Florida Bright Futures award in the re-evaluation conducted following graduation.
