Hello Parents,

This week students enjoyed “Say Hello” week, our first positive school culture campaign. ASB students made signs to welcome students to school, students wore name tags throughout the day to help students get connected to one another, students signed the “I Hope” wall with their hopes for the new school year, and had a great time with our first ever Cohort Mixer where two different cohorts got together and played Human Bingo to get to know one another. During class, students calculated density, learned about leadership in Revolutionary America, learned how to summarize a text, set goals, explored the Habits of Success, and learned about WIN or What I Need Time.

Next week students will begin their first round of electives (their electives will be posted in Pathways soon), we will have elections for our ASB officers, and all parents and guardians are invited to Back to School Night this Thursday, September 15, 5:00-6:30pm. This is a parent/guardian only event (no students) where you get to walk your child's schedule and get to meet all the teachers.

In partnership,

Mrs. Morrow, Principal

Medication Policy for 2022/2023 school year

(click for more info)

If your student will require medication at school, at any time during the year, please print the required medication form here and turn it into the front office. We are not able to administer any medication (prescription or over-the-counter), without a doctor's signature, and the medication must be in the original container. Additionally, if your student will be carrying medication, you still need to fill out the medication form, have it signed my a doctor, and your student also needs to fill out the self-carry medication form. If your student requires an EPI PEN to be used on campus the following form must be filled out and returned to campus. This will better allow us to assist your student with possible reactions and side effects of your students allergies and gives us an action plan to care for your student properly.

Please note: We cannot accept any medication form for the 2022-2023 school year if it is dated before July 1, 2022. All forms must be signed & dated by your doctor after this date to be active for the school year.

Students will be able to choose from the available pre-packaged Breakfast Kits. Each pre-packaged Breakfast Kit includes breakfast cereal, dried fruit, unsweetened regular or flavored applesauce, graham crackers, and low-fat milk.

Our breakfast program is available to all students, regardless of eligibility status. Pre-packaged Breakfast Kits must be pre-ordered online. A link to the order form is linked here.

Questions? Speak to your school’s front office or email us at meals@classicalacademy.com.

Coca-Cola Give (click for more info)

We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This opens up CAMS to receiving donations simply by entering codes from purchased Coke products. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply go to this website: https://us.coca-cola.com/give/schools/ search “Classical Academy Middle”, enter your product codes from the bottle and our school receives a donation. Or if it’s easier, just bring us the codes and we have a parent that has graciously offered to enter them for you!

This is such a great way to give back with something you already purchase and we appreciate you choosing to support CAMS! (The picture on the side is all participating brands in case you don’t drink Coke)

Box Tops for Education (click for more info)

Did you know The Classical Academies participates in Box Tops for Education? If you've got the app, you can scan your Box Tops or receipts for our school. If you don't have the app, you can drop Box Tops or receipts with barcodes by the front office and we'll get them taken care of. Thank you!

Hello Badger Families,

Did you know that the month of September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month? This is a time to raise awareness about suicide, in effort to provide education, resources and HOPE to those affected!

The most recent data concludes that suicide is the second leading cause of death for people, ages 10-34 (CDC, 2019). It is also known that four out of five teens who attempt suicide, have given clear warning signs. The mental health of our youth is a growing concern. This is why knowing the signs of someone who might be in crisis and how to support them can make all the difference.

Below, you will find a few links to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. This is a valuable resource, as it explains what parents should know about suicide, common risk factors that could increase a person’s chances of contemplating suicide, as well as warning signs to look out for that signal someone may be thinking about suicide. You can also find information on how to get help.

AFSP: What parents should know about teen suicide

AFSP: Risk Factors and Warning Signs

Being knowledgeable of what to look out for is the first step in supporting those around us that may be struggling. From there, we can show them that they are not alone and there is HOPE!

Important Update: 988 is now available nationwide as the new number to contact for mental health, substance use and suicide crises.

If you have follow up questions, concerns or would like further information, please email me at aatkins@classicalacademy.com
