Classroom Practice Times 2023-24
All students in grades 3-5 must use Typing Club to learn and practice correct keyboarding.
Grades 3-5 Classroom Practice Times
Grades 3-5
August 17 - September 1, 2023:
30 minutes of keyboarding instruction each day for 12 days.
Instruction to take place during the Math/ELA Intervention block (30 min.).
September 5 - September 15, 2023:
30 minutes of keyboarding instruction during 4 days of Math/ELA intervention during the designated time period.
Teachers designate the four days of Intervention time (30 min.) to keyboarding instruction that works best for their classroom.
This could mean designating intervention time (30 min.) from September 5 - September 8 to keyboarding instruction or spreading out the four days across September 5 - September 15, so that you can get started with intervention right after Labor Day.
It is up to the teachers to decide what works best for their classroom in order to get the final four days of keyboarding instruction in.
Computer Science practice times
Grade 2: Guided practice 10 minutes each CS specials second semester as a jump start. Second grade classroom teachers will NOT be doing this in their classrooms.
Grades 3-4: Guided practice 10 minutes each CS specials class all year
Grade 5: Guided practice 10 minutes each CS specials class first semester. We need the full instructional time second semester for capstone CS projects.
