Coaches are expected to be able to communicate with players and parents effectively. To that end, coaches can use text messages in a group to communicate needed information to both players and parents. These group messages will have the assigned parent representative on them so that the parent has the ability to pass along the message. These group messages are expected to be a one way communication only. If there is a need to speak with the coach, please reach out to said coach individually.
There will also be messages posted in other avenues. The LEGS google classroom page (please email Coach Mathews for join code) Instagram and Twitter accounts, @LEGirlsSoccer. Please also look in these areas for messages.
We are all digital citizens in today’s world. When posting, please take a moment to make sure this is something you truly want to post and have everyone to see. If there are problems that are brought to the coaching staff or the Athletic Department’s attention, these will be handled with potential disciplinary action.
We have a long history of academic excellence within the soccer program. To that end, we require that if a player is failing a class, that they go to Academic Hour and work with their teacher to raise this grade. All academic policies of the Athletic Department will be enforced.
One thing within our complete control is how in shape we are as a program. We firmly believe that the better conditioned our players are will contribute to on field success. We have a summer, fall, and winter strength and conditioning program that will continue until the spring season starts. It is highly encouraged to attend.
Every summer and winter players have the opportunity to join high school leagues. These leagues will be coached by a parent, and are designed to provide more opportunities for touches and familiarization with one another who will be playing within the program. We will try to keep siblings together on the same team for transportation ease.
We expect professionalism, respect, and courtesy when playing in a game and speaking with officials and opponents. If there are any issues, please tell your coaches and they will address the concern. We also expect the same respect and courtesy from all coaches and parents on the sidelines as well.
The words we use are important. We expect professionalism and respect within our program, and that often comes through in the way we communicate. Any foul language will be dealt with by the coaches appropriately. This expectation also applies to all coaches.
Within the Lincoln East Girls Soccer program, we ask that all parents adhere to a 24 hour waiting period for communication with coaches after games. We are happy to discuss questions or concerns about playing time, but ask that this period be observed so that any communication has had time to be processed and clearly communicated.
Coaches continually meet throughout the season to discuss player performance and which players may be suited for movement between teams. There are potential reasons for asking a player to swing up or down; these could include high performance of said player, injuries, opportunity for players to get more game minutes, or absences of other players. Coaches will inform players of which team they are to swing to and for how long.
We are one program. We support and encourage our teammates across all levels. We expect that every player will attend games of other levels.
As this is a competitive program, playing time will not be evenly distributed. Coaches will divide out playing time as they see fit based on merit. If there are concerns, we encourage the players to advocate for themselves and ask the coach how they can improve and potentially receive more playing time.
When teams travel out of town, the expectation is that all players and head coaches are to ride on the bus to and from the out of town games. Parents may speak with head coaches for exceptions.
Tryouts will be the first week of the season, with players being asked to return throughout the week. Every player is guaranteed two sessions of a tryout. During the tryout, there will be various drills, activities, and small and large sided games that will test the player’s abilities. Coaches will be continually evaluating these players throughout the week. Final teams will be made up with input from all coaches, but final team decisions are the Head Coach’s.
Based on LPS standards, Seniors have the ability to make Varsity, Juniors have the ability to make JV or Varsity, Sophomores and Freshman are able to make any team. Not every player that comes out for the soccer program will make a team, as cuts may occur for reasons which will be communicated to the player by the Head Coach.
Student athletes will Letter in the Lincoln East Girls Soccer Program, after participating in a season for the Varsity team. Players must be present at practices and games throughout the entire season. Misconduct may result in loss of a Letter. Ultimately, Lettering at the Head Coach’s discretion.
