Be A Part of the Band & Orchestra

Message From The Supervisor of Music

Dear 4th and 5th Grade Students and Parents/Guardians:

Each year at this time, students eagerly wait their turn to join our music program. The study of music could be one of the most valuable and exciting opportunities in education. Not only does playing a musical instrument help develop responsibility, mental discipline, teamwork and self-esteem, it will provide enjoyment and fulfillment while fostering a lifelong appreciation of music. We offer beginning string classes for 4th graders and beginning band or string classes for 5th graders.

Our beginning instrumental music class for this year is now being organized. Instrumental music teachers are visiting 4th grade and 5th grade classes. Instrumental music classes are scheduled during the school day, once a week for 30 minutes. All instruction is free and all that is necessary is for you to obtain an instrument for your child. A quality instrument is the most essential piece of equipment needed for your child’s success.

Music is a precious element of daily living. I know that you agree that every child should have the opportunity to participate in music-making, to develop an appreciation for it, and to tap into their hidden talents through the study of it. You can learn more about our program by visiting this website. Below you can explore the different instruments produced and credited by Be Part Of the Music. Then, please click on “Select Your Elementary School” tab on the top of the screen to meet your teachers at your school and to receive specific information for signing up for band or orchestra at your school.

Welcome and we are so excited to have you as the newest member of our Lincoln Public Schools Bands and Orchestras.
