A Message From the Principal
Mickle Families,
Welcome to the March edition of the monthly newsletter. With only a couple of days remaining in the third quarter, we are working with students to finalize projects, assignments and grades for the third quarter before students and staff alike can take a much deserved spring break. Within the March newsletter, you will find information from the various departments and upcoming events at Mickle. Additionally, the Health Office has news to share with next year's seventh grade families.
As always, reach out to us as we collaborate with you in your child's education.

Information for families with a student entering 7th grade in the 2024/2025 school year.
We know there is a great deal of information coming home from school, but we want to especially make you aware of a Nebraska requirement for students entering a public school entering 7th grade.
Families of 7th grade students for the 2024/2025 school year need to provide the following information to the school your child attends – or will attend:
Evidence of a physical examination completed by a physician, physician assistant, or an advanced practice registered nurse. This exam must have taken place within the last six months, prior to the start of school. Now is a great time to make your school physical appointment with your student's provider.
Students must be current with all school required immunizations and provide proof to the school.
There are many resources available and the school nurse can assist you if you have questions about either of these items. Nebraska law requires students to have immunizations completed by the first day of school. Lincoln Public Schools extends a grace period for immunizations, allowing families to make necessary appointments and have them completed by the end of first quarter.
Students who have not submitted complete immunization records to the health office by Oct. 10, 2024 will NOT be allowed back to school until immunization records are submitted and up-to-date.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your school nurse at
402-436- 1216 (option 4).

Traffic Flow
It is important to us that student drop off and dismissal is as safe and efficient as possible. We strongly recommend that families follow the suggested traffic flow outlined in this brochure. It will help to ensure drop off and pick up run quickly, and most importantly, safely.
Upcoming Events
Stay current on upcoming school events by checking the March school calendar here.
BackPack Extra Mile Walk
This year's annual BackPack Extra Mile Walk will be held the morning of Saturday, April 20, at East High School. For over a decade, the LPS BackPack Extra Mile Walk has eased hunger in our community. Funds raised from the event directly support Child Hunger Programs at the Food Bank of Lincoln, providing LPS students and families with weekly and monthly access to nutritious food options through the BackPack Program and School Food Markets.
Mickle is supporting the Food Bank BackPack Program with a Student Council sponsored collection in classrooms and a Mickle vs. LNE staff basketball game fundraiser on Thursday evening, March 21. If you would prefer to donate online, or for more information please visit www.lincolnfoodbank.org/extramile. This link shows you how to register to receive a free T-shirt. Thanks for your support to this worthwhile cause!
