Thank you for Guest Teaching for me today. I hope you enjoy your time at Wysong. Today is a DAY 5. My daily schedule is posted on the right.
I will expand upon each time frame in the page below.
I will be including (embedding) videos of instruction for each grade level lesson on this site. Feel free to show those videos to students if you wish -- or you may watch them during prep time to become acquainted with the lesson and then teach it yourself. Whatever is easiest and most comfortable to you.
Students will access the activities and sites in their usual ways (Google Classroom or bookmarks on their devices). Here is a quick link to my CS Landing Page: WYSONG CS PAGE

8:50 - 8:55 - Front Lobby Duty
At 8:50, when the arrival bell rings, you will monitor students walking toward the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade pods. Leave the Computer Science room and go to the left. I usually stand between the art room window and the library window. Students will be walking toward you from the cafeteria, front door, and the music/PE wing. Make sure they are walking and being respectful. At 8:55, you are free to return to the Computer Science room to begin the day.
7 Minute Timer for Typing Club - Grades 2, 3, 4, and 5
All Students in grades 2, 3, 4, and 5 begin each lesson with 7 minutes of keyboarding practice using the TYPING CLUB program (found in the Student Portal). Students enter the class, sit down quietly, and then begin keyboarding. Remind them to use the keyboard covers (found on the tables). This is routine and they should do this without much intervention. You may use (and reuse) this timer for each grade if you like -- or there is a time embedded on each grade level page (WYSONG CS PAGE).

This year, Specialists have their lunch and slightly shortend plan during the middle of the day. Grab your lunch, relax, and prepare for the afternoon. 😃🥪🥗

Students enter quietly and place Chromebooks on their table spot and then find their floor spot (table spot number = floor spot number).
Students will practice persistence by working on two new activities on our Google Site.
1:50 - 2:40 - Library Shelving / Make up Plan Time
Due to our rotation, this is an extra period where you won't have a class. Please go to the library and assist with book shelving or shelf facing (straightening books on shelves) for 25-30 minutes. Mrs. Shaddick may have another task for you to do instead .... she'll let you know.
After that time has passed, use the remaining time (15-20 min) as make up plan time since our lunch plan is short the full 50 minutes.

Students will review the first five activities we have learned in The Logical Journey of the Zoombini's in PRACTICE MODE (make sure they log in to the PRACTICE game on each iPad).

3:38 - 3:45 - Dismissal Duty
After 2nd grade dismissal, walk down the hallway toward the KDG grade pod (the hallway that goes past the office and beyond). At the end of the hall, exit right out the doors and then follow sidewalk to the entrance of the parking lot. ( SEE MAP if confused ) I stand on the school side of the entry and make sure Daycare vans, etc stop for students and families that need to cross the entrance. I do NOT assist if they are crossing the street as there isn't a crosswalk and they shouldn't be doing that at that location. At 3:45, you are done.
