Wang Group has a fully equipped research lab (Biosafety Level II) for environmental microbiology and molecular microbiology located on the first floor of Rowley Laboratories at Clarkson University. The lab is equipped with general microbiology instruments including biosafety cabinets, shaker incubators, static CO2 incubators, a shaker micro-incubator, an ultra-low temperature freezer, a bench-top autoclave sterilizer, refrigerated centrifuge and micro-centrifuge, a stereomicroscope, and a fluorescence microscope; molecular microbiology instruments including PCR, qPCR, monochromator-based plate reader, gel electrophoresis station, imager, and a cell electroporator; as well as a chemical fume hood, a glove box, and other small equipment and supplies, e.g., freezers, refrigerators, water bath, sonicator bath, vortexers, and mini-centrifuges, etc. In the same building nearby, there are larger autoclave sterilizers, Super-Q large volume ultrapure water system, a ddPCR system available, a Nanodrop, and a ddPCR system available. Next to Rowley Laboratories, the shared analytical platform is fully equipped and well managed for the analysis of the chemical composition of any environmental samples. The analytical instruments include UPLC-GC-QTof, UPLC-MS/MS, GC x GC-MS/MS, GC-MS, Total fluorine analyzer, TOC, ICP-MS, UV-vis spectrometer, XRF, and fluorospectrometer.
