Reading Instruction: Based on PALS assessment, teacher observation, and other assessments, students are taught reading comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary in a small group setting on their instructional level (guided reading model). Writing instruction includes writing workshop where students write using a variety of genres to produce a written project. Silent reading to self, reading to others, and word work ( spelling) are other components of the guided reading daily instruction.
