• 7-8 Winter Band Concert -- Tuesday, December 9, 2025, 7:00 PM (required for all band members)

• 7-12 Jazz Band Concert -- Thursday, February 5, 2026, 7:00 PM (required for all jazz band members)

• 7-8 Spring Band Concert -- Thursday, April 23, 2026, 7:00 PM (required for all band members)  

All 7th and 8th grade band members should dress up in the best clothes that they have and report to the band room by 6:30 PM on the night of the concerts in order to warm up and tune their instruments. Family and friends are invited to the concerts. Admission is free.

Participation in concerts is required because band members are part of a group that works together as a team. Each concert serves as a major assessment for this class and is worth 100 points each. Students should remember their commitment and obligation to the band by being responsible (punctual, dependable, consistent) and by contributing their talent and time to the group. Each band member makes a valuable contribution to the group! When even one person is gone, the rest of the group is negatively impacted. Each concert serves as a test for this class. Because of this, all concerts are required assessments. These required concerts include the winter band concert (December 9 at 7:00 PM) and the spring band concert (April 23 at 7:00 PM). For jazz band members, the jazz concert (February 5 at 7:00 PM) is also required.  

If a student is ill or has a family emergency (such as a relative’s funeral) on the day of a concert, then his or her parents or guardians should contact Mrs. Stortenbecker as soon as possible. If a student misses a concert, then the missed concert will be reflected in Infinite Campus as a missing assignment. Students should contact Mrs. Stortenbecker for a make-up test assignment. The student will need to write and submit a music report by the end of the quarter in order to make up the points (and the time) for missing the concert.
