Mentors in CCSD will provide guidance, support and feedback on research-based practices, curriculum, classroom management, district initiatives, as well as what it means to be a professional teacher. Mentors will serve as coaches guiding and collaborating with induction teachers to ensure success. Mentors will engage induction teachers through reflection and professional goal setting with the purpose of improving professional practices and retaining our teachers in CCSD.

In addition to informal support, Mentors support their induction mentee with the following:

• Understanding and implementing district and building policies and procedures effectively

• Creating a positive and rigorous learning environment

• Understanding the district’s adopted and board approved curriculum

• Providing feedback regarding effective instructional delivery
