Role of the Induction Teacher
Dear New Teacher,
Your first year in the classroom is a formative experience that will impact your professional practice, your career trajectory, and the likelihood that you will stay in the profession.
And with so much at stake in your first year, we want to make sure that you:
Have all the resources and information necessary to successfully plan and launch the school year.
Are familiar and comfortable with your school's unique culture.
Receive professional learning aligned to the unique needs of early career teachers.
Are connected to a veteran mentor teacher for feedback, reflection, and support.
Understand the cycles of the school year and implement self care strategies appropriate for each.
As an Induction Phase Teacher, your role is to:
Meet regularly with mentor and engage in mentoring conversations
Attend District mentee meeting(s) as scheduled
Attend and actively participate on the Induction Teacher Support Team
Observe mentor or master teacher periodically
Reflect on professional practice, student assessment data and professional goals with mentor and members from the Induction Phase Teacher Support Team

This is an online community where induction program information is shared; induction tasks are assigned; as well as a space where you can ask questions and request support in an environment geared towards early career teachers.
