This is a 1st semester course designed to teach students beginning level carpentry skills. These include Introduction to Reading Plans and Elevations, Building, Floor Systems, Constructing Walls and Ceiling Framing, Roof Framing. They will also be taught how to install Windows, Exterior Doors and Layout Basic Stairs. The students will be taught how to use a variety of hand and power tools to perform their duties correctly and safely in the Building Construction shop. The safe use of all tools, equipment and processes along with the correct operational procedures will be covered in the classroom before any work is done in the shop.
