Planet Youth is an important part of the Clackmannanshire Family Wellbeing Partnership (FWP) approach. A collaboration between Clackmannanshire Council, the Scottish Government and the Hunter Foundation via the Social Innovation Partnership, the Family Wellbeing Partnership (FWP) is about a different way of working. Empowering people in Clackmannanshire to be and do things they have reason to value and to live flourishing lives is at the heart of this approach and the focus is on what matters to people in our communities. Critically, the approach recognises a key role for public services in person-centred, enabling models of support. With agency and voice integral to all that we do, the FWP approach is making a difference in Clackmannanshire.
As part of Clackmannanshire Family Wellbeing Partnership (FWP), the Community Around the School approach provides a range of person-centred activities and programmes for young people and families. These include university projects, NHS workshops, local work experience, family cooking classes and literacy support. Young people in Clackmannanshire secondary schools have also enjoyed Columba 1400 Values Based Leadership experiences, and these are great opportunities to reflect on their values and what’s important to them as well as discussing what they need to flourish and what they want for their community.
The Community Around the School approach is a strong protective factor that contributes to youth and family well-being. The range of programmes and initiatives builds resilience and supports people to thrive. This is about creating opportunities for people to live lives that they value.
