2025-2026 Library LCAP Budget Instructions

The LCAP budget provides district-wide support for our libraries, funding the development of diverse print and digital collections. These resources are designed to meet the needs of all learners, support the curriculum, and advance district goals, including the CJUSD Design Plan and Equity Pillars.

For the 2025-2026 school year, the LCAP Library Spending Plan specifically focuses on expanding our collections and implementing platforms that enhance the reading experience. Key investment areas include:

• Digital Resources: Databases and district-wide digital book collections.

• Physical Collections: School site book collections and materials for student book groups and reading incentives.

• Reading Engagement Platforms: Novel Effects for elementary students and the Beanstack reading challenge platform for secondary students.

Follett PO Instructions for Library Staff

Order By: October 31, 2025  | All Items Must Be Received By:  May 15, 2026  |  Contact Kelli if you won’t meet the deadline 

​School site School Program Technicians and Principals do not need to take any action to facilitate this process. If you have any questions or require assistance, please contact Kelli Van Velkinburgh at 909-580-6630. I will be offering dedicated office hours to assist staff and am also available by appointment.

• Start a list in Titlewave 

  • 1. Name it:  School Name LCAP 25-26 #1 (#2 and on for subsequent lists as needed)

    2. Enter Do Not Exceed Amount (DNE) listed in LCAP Library 2025-26 

• Add titles to the list

  • 1. Elementary may select any combination of print and digital titles from Follett

    2. Secondary may select print titles,and digital titles if desired. However, it is highly recommended that digital titles be purchased through OverDrive/Sora.

    3. Follow Collection Development Best Practices and review a collection analysis. Please contact Kelli for assistance with analysis.

    4. Add up to 20% more than the DNE (because some titles will end up being unavailable and this allows Follett to meet your budget.)

    5. Mark titles that are must-haves as First Choice to ensure that they are received

• Analyze and review list

  • 1. Check 1st Choices

    2. Verify that Pre-order items will likely arrive before May 15.  If not, add them to a list for next year.

    3. Check to ensure that the formats are as intended

    4. Add 20% extra to the list in case some titles become unavailable

    5. Analyze-do the titles meet the needs of your site?

• Order Online

  • 1. School site School Program Technicians and Principals do not need to do anything to facilitate this process. These are facilitated by Educational Services 7-12. Consult with your admin.

    2. Use the provided PO number, select Order Online

    3. Select all items--ensure that not yet published items will arrive by May 15th

    4. Select "I WANT Cataloging & Processing for books on this order". Contact Kelli for assistance.

    5. Add PO number and confirm DNE amount

    6. Confirm that billing address is as follows:  Linda Jimenez / Ed Services 7-12  / Colton Joint Unified School District - 1212 Valencia - Colton, CA 92324

    7. Confirm that shipping address is Attn: Library/your last name and your school site address

    8. Click on orange Place Order button

• IMPORTANT!! Immediately check shipments and send in packing slips

  • 1. Check every shipment against the packing slip and immediately send it to DO-Accounts Payable.  If you need assistance contact Kelli right away.

    2. Please check off and initial on this spreadsheet to indicate that you have received orders and sent the documentation to accounts payable.
