My name is Carissa Young.  I am super excited to start this new school year as an Elementary School Counselor. The schools that I work with are Good Shepherd, Holy Infancy, Immaculate Conception, St. Anne's and St. Jane's. 

Before becoming a school counselor, I had 16+ years of teaching experience and most recently worked in Early Intervention with 3-5 year olds with developmental delays.  I also worked in Alternative Education programs with teenagers and as a 4th grade teacher. 

I received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and my masters degree in School Counseling at Kutztown University.  In addition,  I also attained a masters in Education,  certification in Special Education,  and certification in ESL through Cedar Crest College. 

I like to spend time with my husband and our four adult children.  I have a lionhead rabbit named Bianca and like about a million fish. In 2022, we adopted two dogs that we named Maverick and Goose.  Maverick is a black lab and shepherd mix and Goose is a bit of everything (aussie/hound/terrier/lab mix).  I recently started participating in yoga and creating acrylic pour paintings.  Also in my spare time, I  volunteer for Crime Victims Council and answer crisis calls on their hotline.
