1. The location and type of required protection fencing and/or other measures, and the
method(s) of installation and maintenance, shall be clearly shown/described on the
landscape plan.
2. ALL required tree protection measures must be installed prior to the commencement of
any construction or disturbance activity; no actions that may result in mechanical injuries
to roots, trunk or branches; or, injuries by chemical poisoning; or, injuries by grade
changes or excavation; or injuries by paving are permitted.
3. In the event no special protection measures are required, all trees proposed to be
preserved during development shall, at a minimum , be protected with a sturdy and visible
fence installed in a manner consistent with these notes before clearing and grading (or
other land disturbance activity) begins.
4. Required protection measures must be in place and maintained in good condition
throughout the period of development.
5. Unless otherwise specified, tree
protection fencing shall be situated to encompass the
entire Critical Root Zone (CRZ), and installed no less than one (1) foot from the tree trunk
for each one (1) inch in Tree Diameter Breast Height (DBH ); however, in no case shall tree
fencing be located less than ten (10) feet from the edge of the trunk of any tree to be
preserved .
6. Tree protection fencing shall consist of appropriate weather resistant materials installed
and maintained in a manner to provide a highly visible, sturdy barrier throughout the entire
period of development; in the event any portion of a protective fence is damaged or altered
in any manner that results in a lack of conformity with these requirements, it shall be
immediately repaired.
7. No disturbance, compaction, or stock piling of soil; or storage of any construction
materials or equipment; or vehicular traffic shall be allowed within the canopy or Critical
Root Zone of any tree to be preserved. All proposed work approved to be carried out in the
Critical Root Zone shall be accomplished with hand tools ONLY.
