Young Leader Pledge

I pledge to make my city Safe, Healthy and Hopeful for our Black men and boys-and for all of us. I pledge to take steps that will support Cities United's mission to reduce homicides by 50% by the year 2025 across the country. 

I will embrace solution areas focused along the individual and systems level of change i.e. Cities United's Two Pronged Approach which include:

• Using my voice and experiences to influence decision-making at various levels 

• Advocating on behalf of a public health approach to violence prevention 

• Developing youth-adult partnerships in local government 

• Enhancing youth engagement, youth voice and youth leadership 

• Elevating the voices and experiences of individuals directly impacted by violence 

• Mentoring and supporting other young leaders 

• Working with local government and community organizations to provide youth pathways to social and political awareness and a sense of community and well-being

Additionally, I am committed to building the pipeline of young leaders committed to reducing homicides and shootings of Black men and boys.
