Novel
Term 2 Novel Study: Literature Circles
Each week students are required to read the assigned section of their novel and complete an assignment to share and discuss with their group members. The students will be given some in class time, but will also be expected to use home time to finish their assignment.
Due dates as follows:
Week 1 Due Wednesday, January 24th
Week 2 Due Wednesday, January 31st
Week 3 Due Wednesday, February 7th
Week 4 Due Wednesday, February 14th
Week 5 Due Wednesday, February 21st
Term 1: "Stone Fox"
The students have started reading the novel Stone Fox, by John Reynolds Gardiner. They are completing a "Matchbook Summary" for each chapter.
Criteria for Matchbook Summaries:
Chapter summaries include at least 3 key points:
What happens at the beginning of the chapter
What happens in the middle of the chapter
What happens at the end of the chapter
Writing is in their own words.
The writing has been checked for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitals.
Matchbook Pictures:
· Represents a scene or event from the chapter
· Detailed and complete
· Neatly coloured
Cover:
- Depicts the main theme of the book
- Detailed and complete
- Contains the title and author
- Neatly draw and coloured
