Field Trip: The Victoria Hand Project

The Victoria Hand Project is a donation-fuelled non-profit organisation that runs out of the University of Victoria. Its mission is to promote health and relieve poverty by providing prosthetic arms to amputees in-need, who have limited or no access to prosthetic care. Grade 4 learned about prosthetics technology though learning more about Terry Fox last week. Our STEM Challenge this week was to make a prototype of prosthetic hand using straws, tape, cardboard and string. We learned a lot about the engineering design process. 

Having Fun on the Terry Fox Run

4A had the task of counting the cash donations for this year's Marathon of Hope donation from St Pat's families. We sorted the bills and coins, double (or triple) counted the piles, and calculated the total sum. We counted $909.15 in real cash!
