4A Takes to the Stage!
Our readers' theatre productions of fractured fairy tales were fun to produce. Thank you to our wonderful 1A buddies for being an amazing audience.
Fi-fi-fo, I'm all forlorn!
They sold the cow for some corn!
What big claws you have, Gramps...
Where are your teeth?
" I don't think she's a real princess."
Do real princesses even eat hash browns in bed?
Cinder-really?
No fairy tale collection is complete with a pumpkin carriage, glorious dresses, princely capes, deprived siblings wearing gunnysacks, a fairy godmother and...hamsters!
Sometimes you need a Thinking Cap...
Then it's Take 2!
You make improvements and try again. This is called the iterative process.

Hermoine Granger, Raina (from Smile), The Grand High Witch (from Roald Dahl's The Witches), our Sweet Valley High twin, and time-travelling Patricia (from Kit Pearson's A Handful of Time)
Mr Beast (from The Unofficial Fan Guide) with Dogman (from the Dogman series by Dave Pilkey)
We attended Rumplestiltskin, The Princess and the Pea, and Little Red Riding Hood as performed by the Grade 9 Drama students at SARHS. They weren't quite the conventional tales! They were hilarious! Big thanks to Ms Gauthier-Riggs for inviting us and to her students for doing an amazing job. We had a great time. Həysxw qə!

https://www.childrensfestival.ca/performer/where-have-all-the-buffalo-gone/
The blurb reads: "Move through time at this powerful Métis story that helps us remember and understand our past. Where Have All The Buffalo Gone, follows two Métis souls as they journey through seven important moments in Métis history — from the birth of Métis nations on the plains to the colonization driven by the fur trade, the disappearance of the buffalo, and the rise of the Métis Association of Alberta.
This moving tale weaves together stories and a life-sized buffalo puppet, with true historical events to explore the love, loss, and resilience of Treaty 6’s Métis peoples. At its heart, this story celebrates the rich lessons and love stories of the buffalo."

"Unto us a Child is Born! Shazam!"
STEAM Challenge 2: Getting Santa's Sleigh Airborne
We worked with our Little Buddies to make Christmas crackers to add to the Christmas cheer at Our Place, The St Andrew's Cathedral Soup Kitechen and Amawin House. In all, St Patrick's made 750 crackers (look at them all in the photograph to the left) containing jokes such as these ones contributed by 4A:
What kind of photo does Santa like to take? Elfies!
Why are Christmas trees bad at knitting? They always drop their needles.
Why did Santa send his helpers to school? To learn the elf-abet.
What is every parent's favourite Christmas song? Silent Night.
What did Adam say on the day before Christmas? "It's Christmas, Eve!"
Advent means waiting.
Soon and very soon, we are going to see the King!
Soon and very soon, we are going to see the King!
Soon and very soon, we are going to see the King!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
We're going to see the King!
Advent means preparing.
Advent means Jesus will be here soon.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105
Poppy seeds are tiny but grow into plants with beautiful blossoms. A single word helps to build a sentence, a thought, a story. Our words matter. How does this remind us of our efforts? Working together we can make a difference. What we do counts.
Therefore, let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding. Romans 14:19
