Mural painting has always been a tradition for us in the CIS community. We wanted to make this year extremely special and symbolic. We picked a map of the world because we wanted show that our school is all about having a global perspective. In fact, going out of our comfort zones, discovering new places, and being a part of new things is what Week Without Walls is all about. We also chose the map because we wanted the kids of Looc Elementary School to use this map as a reference of how big the world us and how we are all a part of it. We waned the kids to not just see the painting that we made but be included in the process. We asked the kids to put their hand prints around the mural because in the future this can be something the kids can look back on and be reminded of the memories. We hope that this activity was just as meaningful to the children as it was to us.
