We spent the first two days at Looc Elementary School. On the first day, we began painting the Science Garden and mural. All of us, students and teachers spent the afternoon painting the Science Garden with tons of different colors to make the school a lot more vibrant for the kids. Meanwhile, the other group painted a map of the world on one of the walls. We weren't able to finish the painting on the first day, so that night we had to figure out a more efficient way to finish our tasks. By the second day, we were determined to work harder. We divided the tasks by assigning one group to finish up the Science Garden, one group to finish up the mural, and the rest of the groups to spend time with the students of Looc Elementary School. The kids were a joy to be around. They were extremely polite and thankful for all that we had done and we were extremely thankful to have been allowed to spend time with them and be active members in Looc, San Remigio.
The second day at the school was a blast because of all the activities we were able to have with the kids. We had a mini Zumba class, we sang with them, we had a quite intense game of monkey in the middle, and by the end, our relationships with the children and each other were a lot stronger. We all can say that these two days were the perfect way to get the ball rolling for Week Without Walls.
