Fast Fashion

Going Further

During the Going Further stage, we learned more about the people who are helping and I made my influential person poster in Philippine Language and Culture class. Then we took action ourselves. This was one of my favorite things about PYPx. It was very fun. You can find more below on this website!

My Central Idea

Our responsible choices can impact the ecosystem
and people's lives.

Who is helping?

My Influential Person

My influential person is my cousin, Deandra, who is also in Grade 12 at CIS. She is recycling her old clothes and making masks for people with them. I am inspired by her and I look up to her. She also let me use her old clothing for my PYPx. Her IB learner skills are social skills, communication skill and I did not add one IB learner skills in this poster but I think she is a thinker because she is thinking how she can make mask out old her old clothing.

My Actions

My Action #1

I took action by reusing old clothes and fixing clothes by sewing, stitching, and adding things.

Reasons: We don't just throw away all the clothes that are torn and old because if we just throw away a lot of clothes animals can die from eating the old clothes and we will have a lot of trash everywhere.

Challenges: My challenge was making the clothes it took a lot of time but I used my time wisely and did it in a few hours.

My action could be considered sustainable because if we stop buying fast fashion brands and reuse old clothing we can stop animals from dying.

It was effective because now we can stop making animals die and we now know how we can reuse old clothes.

My Action #2

I know that my project is about fast fashion and how can we reuse and fix old clothes, but I wondered how I could ask people how to fix clothes if they didn't know how to sew. So, I took action to change my own and/or others' behavior by teaching people how to sew. I recorded a tutorial video and also invited people to join my Sewing Club at school.

The most challenging was making my video it took a lot of time and I had to keep on retaking the video. My action could be considered sustainable because you can use this in the future when you need to fix some clothes. It was effective because many people wanted to learn how to sew and now they know how to sew so they can use it in the future and teach other people, too!
