Standardized Testing
Due to the COVID pandemic, the number of US institutions who have moved to a test-blind or test optional policy has increased tremendously over the past years. For a complete listing of affected institutions, click here.) There is a distinct possibility that you may not need to take any tests depending on your schools/programs of interests.
Be forewarned that test-optional plans can vary significantly. As part of your university research, make it a habit to read the admissions requirements of each institution where you are considering applying in order to learn which tests are required if any.
If you are considering forgoing SATs/ACTs, you need to first make sure that you fully grasp:
the institutional motivations behind the policy;
whether this path will actually help you;
the difference between test-optional and test-flexible polices;
as well as the potential impact that going test-free can have on financial aid.
