Individual & Career Advancement Counselling

The Individual and Career Advancement (ICA) program is based on personal and career exploration and is designed to assist students in identifying their own individual strengths and objectives in preparation for major decisions such as IBDP course choices, post-secondary study and ultimately career options. It is designed to make a major contribution in preparing students for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life. It will help students make decisions and prepare for transitions as learners and as professionals.

Individual and Career Advancement Components

The Individual and Career Advancement program at CIS is divided into two components:

  1. Career Education - This is designed to help young people develop the knowledge and skills necessary to make successful choices, manage transitions in learning and move into the world of work. Work in this area is done in conjunction with the University Counselling and Student Affairs, specifically through assemblies.
  2. Career Guidance/Counselling - This is designed to enable young people to use the knowledge and skills they develop to make the decisions about learning and work that is right for them. One-on-one counselling support service, as required or requested, is provided to both students and parents to assist individual needs and concerns.
