Master and PhD Programs in Physical Therapy

Chulalongkorn University

At Chulalongkorn University, you can earn a Master of Science in Physical Therapy (MSc PT) or a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physical Therapy. Both of these programs are geared on preparing students for advanced positions in the field of physical therapy, and both of them involve research, clinical education, and academic courses as required components. Chulalongkorn University is the first university in Thailand to offer master's and doctoral programs in specific areas of physical therapy. These areas include musculoskeletal physical therapy, neurological physical therapy, cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy, pediatric physical therapy, geriatric physical therapy, and manipulative physical therapy.

The Master of Science in Physical Therapy (MSc PT) program at Chulalongkorn University is a two-year degree developed for physical therapists who wish to expand their knowledge and abilities in the field. The program requires students to complete courses in advanced subjects such as clinical leadership, evidence-based practice, and rehabilitation science. Additionally, students must complete a research project and a clinical internship.

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physical Therapy is an advanced degree program designed for individuals who wish to pursue professions in academia or research. The completion of the degree normally takes between three and five years and consists of coursework in advanced subjects such as research methods, statistics, and physical therapy theory. Additionally, students are required to produce a dissertation at the end of the program.

Additionally, we also offer research-only programs. This implies that students will focus mostly on research and will be required to enroll for one extra topic, a research seminar in physical therapy, every semester until graduation.

To be eligible for the MSc PT or PhD program at Chulalongkorn University, you must hold a bachelor's degree in physical therapy and satisfy the institution's entrance standards. This may involve a passing score on the English proficiency test, the submission of transcripts, and letters of recommendation.
