1. About the advisor. Do I need to contact he or she by myself? Or the faculty will be recommending?
You have to find your potential advisor by yourself. The advisor has to be a faculty member. The program may recommend the faculty members who are suitable for your research interest.
2. How many papers do I need in order to graduate? Are there any requirements for the journal or conference level (such as SCI, SSCI, SCOUPS)? If I publish papers or attend conference, will the faculty subsidize the relevant fees?
You have to publish at least one internationally recognized journal listed on SCOPUS and you have to attend two international conferences to present your work. The program has no support for publication fee, but we have financial support for the conference.
3. About the insurance. Should I buy the insurance by myself or through university or whatever?
The university will collect insurance fee from foreign students at the beginning of each academic year at the same duration that tuition fee payment via CUNEX application.
4. How much is the entire PhD of Economics for the total 6 years' study?
Yes, you must graduate by 6 academic years, but you can graduate before that, depend on each student.
5. Are there any chances to get the scholarship for the PhD study?
It depends on your GPAX of the 1st year study.
6. Due to my age 40, is there any restriction for the PhD study?
No, we did not limit, anyone can study in our program, if meet the program requirement, you can see the information for admission at click here
7. Can I submit my language scores after I am admitted?
No, you must submit together with the application form.
8. Will my scholarship application be affected if I submit my language score later?
If you not meet the requirement, we will not consider the application.
9. Is there any letter of recommendation template from an academic or professional, as I cannot find any template on the website?
There is no template for letter of recommendation. Two letters of recommendation from academic and/or professional referees. References must be signed letters on headed university or institution notepaper (not the supplementary form) and should be typed in English.
10. The special fee that I should pay later will be charged per semester or only once?
It will be charged per semester.
11. I have studied in the United States since I was in high school. I also got my Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in the United States. For this situation, do I still need to provide the English exam result?
You must submit English language exam result to the program, if you do not meet the requirement, we will not consider the application.
12. Do I need to submit all application documents through a single channel, via email? Do I also need to apply on a separate website? When I applied for my master’s degree, I had to apply separately on the graduate school's website, so I wonder if it’s the same for the PhD program.

13. Where can I obtain the Application No. that is required to be written at the top of the application form?
Leave it blank. The program will fill it in for you.
14. I noticed that the CU-TEP test center provides an option for the Chulalongkorn University Academic Testing Center to directly send the score report to the programs or faculties participating in the score submission. Does your program prefer this method, or is it sufficient if I just include the score report in the email with my other application documents?
The program does not require direct delivery. The testing center should send the score report directly to the applicant. The applicant is responsible for submitting all required documents, including the score report, via email to Orawan.t@chula.ac.th.
14. How should I dress while attending the classes?
You should dress politely but not necessarily very formal and long pants are preferable.
