2. Qualifications of Applicants

1. Masters with strong background in quantitative analysis with GPAX of at least 3.25.

2. English language exam result:

2.1 Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) – a score of 550 or higher on Institutional Testing Program (ITP) or a score of 79 or higher on Internet-based Testing (iBT); or an equivalent score from an equivalent English language qualification test, including
CU-TEP - a score of 80 or higher, and IELTS - a score of at least 6.0.

2.2 English proficiency test result must be no more than two years, i.e., the exam must be taken on or after May 10, 2023. Results must be submitted to the Program Office by the application deadline on May 10, 2025.

2.3 Applicants with lower scores than the above requirements will not be accepted to the Program.

3. Experience in conducting research or writing dissertation is favorable.

4. Admission is subject to the applicant fulfilling the admission requirements prescribed by the Program Committee.

Admission Process

- There is no written exam.

- The Ph.D. Program committee will make decisions based on the application required documents.

- There might be an interview if necessary.

CU-TEP examination

We accept translated document, but only when it has an official stamp from an applicant’s university or a translation service center.

Application Required Documents

1) Application form with a one 1-inch-colored photograph of applicant.

2) Certified copy of university transcripts and certificates (Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree) Applicants with Master’s degree who graduated more than 1 year must submit degree certificate to the Program.

3) Copy of ID card (for Thai applicants) or passport (for foreign applicants)

4) Copy of the report of TOEFL, IELTS, CU-TEP.

5) Two letters of recommendation from academic and/or professional referees. References must be signed letters on headed university or institution notepaper (not the supplementary form) and should be typed in English.

6) Statement of purpose.

7) The most recent curriculum vitae.

8) Application fee: All applicants are to pay an application fee of 800 Thai Baht (net)

Applicants are required to pay an application fee of 800 Baht (Eight hundred Baht) through the payment system of the Office of Financial Affairs, Accounting, and Procurement at Chulalongkorn University via the website https://ofas.chula.ac.th/Service Select “Faculty of Economics” and then choose “PhD application fee AY 2025” After that, click on the “Pay” button. Once on the payment page, follow these steps:

5. Application Fee

5.1 Application Fee Payment Period: February 1, 2025 - May 10, 2025

5.2 Application Fee : Applicants are required to pay an application fee of 800 Baht (Eight hundred Baht) through the payment system of the Office of Financial Affairs, Accounting, and Procurement at Chulalongkorn University via the website https://ofas.chula.ac.th/Service Select “Faculty of Economics” and then choose “PhD application fee AY 2025” After that, click on the “Pay” button. Once on the payment page, follow these steps:

Step 1: The screen will display the application fee detail for the Academic Year 2025 “PhD application fee AY 2025” with a payment amount of 800 Baht. Click on the “Next” button to proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Enter the payer’s information/receipt details (only in Thai or English).

Step 3: Choose a payment method. You can choose between the following two options:

1. Bang transfer (QR Payment)

2. Credit/debit card (with a service fee as specified)

Once you have selected your payment method, click on the “Pay” button. The screen will display the payment details. Click on the “Make payment” button to proceed with the payment.

Note:

- Please do not close or refresh the page while the transaction is in progress. The payment confirmation should appear within 30 seconds. If no confirmation is shown, click "Check status"

- The payment receipt will be sent to the email address provided by the payer. If the payment is made via QR Code after 22:59 or via credit card after 20:59, the receipt will be issued the following day.

- The payment system will close on May 10, 2025, at 23:00.
