Course Description:
Chemistry is the study of matter – anything that has mass and volume. Chemistry deals with the composition of matter and the changes that matter may undergo. This course will get you thinking about what you and objects in the world around you are made up of and the ways in which this matter can react and change. This course is designed to enhance your knowledge of Chemistry as it applies to the world around you and to promote development of higher order critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
What Can Chemistry Do for Me?
Chemistry is everywhere! If you’ve ever baked a cake, done a load of laundry, or used Advil to stop a headache, you have, in some way, experienced Chemistry. Chemistry is important because it is all around you – in your kitchen, your body, the vehicle in which you rode to school, in the water you drink, and in the air you breathe. A good understanding of Chemistry will give you a better appreciation and understanding of your environment.
