Sixth Grade
Home and Career Skills - Where Academics Meet Real Life
The sixth grade course focuses on principles, procedures and techniques basic to the Middle School Home and Career Skills Curriculum. Introductory skills are emphasized in the sewing labs. This is a wonderful unit that teaches students how to follow directions to create a pair of pants using a sewing machine. Students will learn how to measure, cut a fabric pattern, thread a sewing machine, and learn how to sew fabric. Along the way, they will learn about different sewing tools and even how to do laundry! Student folders, containing all pertinent curriculum materials, are updated on a daily basis. This course meets three to four days a week for a trimester.
