Welcome to AP US History.
- Advanced Placement U.S. History is an accelerated and challenging introduction to American History for 11th grade high school students. This class is similar to a college level freshman survey course; therefore, students should expect that the reading and writing load will be heavier than most high school history classes. The historical interests and intellectual skills developed in this class includes, but are not limited to, critical thinking, analyzing data, synthesizing evidence, and evaluating mainstream as well as varying historical perspectives. This course will equip the student not only for success in college, but most importantly, lifelong scholarship.
- In addition, AP United States history students may receive college credit, priority evaluation during the college admission process, and possible college scholarship offers and awards based upon their efforts in this class.
- All tests will be objective, DBQ, or free response questions, in conformance with the national AP test. All essays will be scored according to the rubrics provided by The College Board in their workshop materials on-line.
