Physical Education is a vital and integral part of the academic curriculum. It contributes to the total fitness, growth, and development of the student. We will offer a curriculum that is specifically designed and developmentally appropriate for each of our students with movement experiences interwoven with academic learning. Children will be challenged to strive for their optimal potential. Every healthy student is capable of achieving healthy levels of fitness and wellness, which develop self-confidence, self-discipline, and self-esteem.
As the K-12 physical education faculty, our major contribution to education, and specifically to the students of Croton, lies in our commitment to ensure the development of physical fitness and personal health. Through active participation in a variety of activities, the student acquires knowledge and skill, which provide the foundation for a lifelong commitment to physical activity.
We intend to develop students who will exit Croton-Harmon High School with an improved self-image through various competencies. The “physically educated students” will show the following desired characteristics and abilities:
PHYSICAL EDUCATION GRADES K-4
The elementary physical education program at C.E.T. is designed with the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive progress of the children in mind. It focuses on the development of motor skills, strength, cardiovascular fitness, and flexibility while the student is involved in activities that develop creative thinking, problem solving ,and appropriate social behavior. The teaching of physical education serves a unique purpose in helping to provide students with knowledge, skills, and fitness that will empower them to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The five strands of the C.E.T. Curriculum are:

3. Sports Skills, Lifetime Games, and Recreation
4. Personal Values and Social Experiences
5. Safety Skills and Attitudes
A comprehensive program of elementary physical education in the elementary grades will embody a well-planned and well-executed learning experience selected to meet the current and projected needs of the individual children.
