NPGs are a way for Los Angeles Neighborhood Councils to partner with and support non-profit organizations and public schools on projects that provide a public benefit to the community. Eligible organizations include 501(c)(3) non-profits as well as public schools. The Central Hollywood Neighborhood Council typically approves grants up to $1,000 per organization per year.
For the 2025-2026 fiscal year, this is the process for applying to receive an NPG:
Complete the application packet in it's entirety, including attaching the 501(c)(3) IRS Letter of Determination or Letter from the Principal.
Email the completed packet to the CHNC Treasurer, Nye Brown-Love, at nye.love@chnc.org
The CHNC will review the first batch of applications in November 2025, when the board will distribute up to $5,000 in NPG funds to applicants who have submitted their packet by November 1. Applicants will be invited to present their funding request to the CHNC board at the November 17 board meeting.
The CHNC will review the second batch of applications in April 2025, when the board will distribute up to an additional $5,000 in NPG funds to applicants who have submitted their packet by April 1. Applicants will be invited to present their funding request to the CHNC board at the November 27 board meeting.
During the board meeting, applicants will be invited to give a 5-minute presentation detailing their funding request, then answer questions from the board.
If granted funding from the CHNC, a check request will be submitted by our Treasurer to the City Clerk's Office. The City Clerk may request additional information or supporting documents. If the City Clerk approves the grant, a check payment will be transmitted via USPS mail and may take up to four weeks to arrive.
Grantees are required to report back to the CHNC on the use of funds after the grant funds are expended. Grantees may return the NPG Project Completion Form, send photos/videos to the Treasurer demonstrating how the grant funds were utilized, or speak during the public comment period at the beginning of a monthly CHNC board meeting.
