Avoid throwing away food

Food waste is a bigger problem than people realize.In fact, nearly one-third of food produced in the world is wasted. Even minimal changes to the way you shop, cook and consume food will help reduce your impact on the environment.If you have a fruit or snack that you don’t want, don’t throw it away. Give it to someone who needs and is asking for help.

Food waste is a major part of the impact of agriculture on climate change

If kitchen wastes can be sorted, collected and reused, the expected life of existing landfills may be lengthened, the efficiency of garbage incinerators improved, and the following additional benefits may be achieved:1. Reduce the decay of household garbage and breeding of pests.2. Reduce the amount of waste and burden to waste treatment system.3. Provide pig farmers with low cost feedstuff.4. It may improve the soil fertility when converted to organic fertilizer.5. Anaerobic digestion plants can provide energy from waste by burning the methane created from kitchen wastes and other organic wastes to generate electricity, defraying the plants' costs and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
