Google Read and Write is our primary resource to support students with language disabilities. The basic read version is free. We have licenses available for the version that includes word prediction, study skills/markup tools, and so much more. Contact Luke or Cara if you have a student that needs the full version, or, click the link to the 2024-2025 Google Read and Write Registration Form. Note: the district only provides the funding for this tool if a student has an IEP or it is listed on their 504 Plan.
Texthelp Google Read and Write and Equatio are free for teachers & school district employees. Click the link to register and then follow the directions to add the extension to your Chrome browser.
Our Process for Enrolling Students & Getting Them Setup with Read and Write for Google
The student(s) will need to download the following Chrome Extension from the Chrome Web Store: Also, see the video instructions below.
If you are a video person, please watch my video, "Adding Google Read and Write Chrome Extensions" explaining how students can add these three extensions to their CFSD Chrome Account. Otherwise, follow the directions below:
I am more than willing to help out with this process, as well as provide training with you and your student(s). If you choose not to enlist my help, follow these directions:
1. Make sure students are signed into their chipfalls.org Chrome account. If using a Chromebook, this will automatically be done. If they are signing onto a desktop, they will need to sign into Chrome.
2. The student needs to go to the Chrome Web Store to download the Extensions listed above.
3. Once the extensions are added, they can be found in the Extensions Bar in the upper right hand corner. The student will need to "Pin" the extensions to get quick access.
4. If you are interested, here are some great resources to learn and teach your students how to use this product. However, I am available to help as well, just let me know.
