Bridges Math Curriculum

We will be doing many hands on learning experiences this year.

Our curriculum encourages children to explore creative ways to solve problems, and to explain their thinking thoroughly.

fact practice

It is very important that the kids know their tens facts before we move on to adding and subtracting larger numbers. It will be much easier for them in the long run.

What you can do:

Cover some of the squares in a ten frame with a small something (rocks, flat marbles, toys, game markers, etc) I can print one for you if you would like!

Your child will quickly look and see how many are covered. They won't need to count by ones if they look at the five in a row for an "anchor".

After figuring out how many are covered, your child can write the matching addition or subtraction fact. ( 6+4=10, or 10-4=6, etc)

If they are very quick about subtracting and adding within 10, move onto 2 frames and work within 20 with the same strategies.

Xtra Math

We use Xtra math as a quick practice at school. Kids are welcome to practice at home! Click here on the Xtra Math Link to access xtra math.
