World History

This is a two semester course. First semester starts at the beginnings of human culture and journeys through early civilizations. Classical traditions, major religions and empires are global trends examined throughout this course. Students will explore the expanding zones of exchange and interaction as they emerge to what is considered the first global age. Second semester will focus on the age of revolutions from 1500-1914. Intellectual, political, social, economic, and industrial revolutions will be discussed, along with concepts of nationalism and imperialism. Major sources of tension and conflict will be analyzed to provide students with a better understanding of the foundations for a contemporary world.
